<aside> 💡 The next step after creating a project and a product is to create Components. In Floor2Plan we created different types of components so that it’s easier to configure and plan them.

On this page you will learn about how to create them.

Basics

In Floor2plan Product, Block, Spaces, Systems, Assembly, Equipment, Panel, Parts, Workpackages and Drawings are all defined as components. The components can be configured so that the project components will represent the vessel that will be constructed over the lifespan of the project. Users can create relationships between these different components.

For example, a ship's water system is a system component that can be situated in multiple blocks all over the ship.

Floor2plan makes it possible to create a relationship between the Water system and the corresponding blocks. Therefore, from a planning perspective, users do not have to create a water system inside every block to consider the system's requirements.

From a software perspective, all the different components have the same base but have settings that separate them. For example, a system can't have a block as a child component. But a block can have a block as a child component since a grand block is made from multiple blocks.

At any moment the administrators can create any new component type and assign it a set of rules to define the possible relations this component can have with other component types. A new component can be created from the Product model section in the administration settings.
