The Basics

GANTT Filters

[1] In the Filter panel on the left, you can filter information that is relevant for you, e.g. filter the project on which you are currently working.

You can do the same for all the other elements displayed in this column.

🎯 Remember that you need to click the Apply button to see the changes in the planning based on your newly selected filters.

The Filter Menu [2] button opens the dropdown menu with all the Gantt chart filters that allow you to select the information displayed in the timeline visualization.

The Gantt chart Filter Menu [2a] allows you to filter your assignments by activity planning level, to display additional information on the chart as Dependencies, Baselines, Deviation, Overrun, Critical Paths, Free Float, Descriptions, or Duration Prediction.

[3] Shortcut to filter by “Group by Component (PBS)”

[4] The stored filter button allows you to store the selected filters (from the left panel e.g. Project, and from the top Filter Menu) as personal or global filters. You can access them anytime you need and share them with other users with the same permissions.

Walkthrough

When you get inside the activities module you can see different views (TASKS, BUDGETS OR GANTT). When opening the module, it will show you the last view in which you worked. You can change it using the arrow next to the page’s name [1].

Filter Department and Project

Use the Filter panel on the left to filter things like Department, Projects and more.

[2] The Department is pre-filtered based on your department. If you belong to a group of departments or a top department with sub-departments, then they will appear in the list to filter from. In the displayed example, the user belongs to only 1 department, so only one option is available and automatically selected.

[3] Filter the Project by selecting one or multiple positions.

🎯 The Apply button is only available if you have at least selected one department or project.

[4] Click Apply to see the changes in the GANTT chart.

After selecting the project filter you will see more filtering options. The possible options will depend on the content of your selected project.

🎯 Remember that you need to click Apply [4] to see the changes in the planning based on your newly selected filters.

Filter data using Gantt chart Filter Menu

These filters allow you to select which data and how this will be displayed in the GANTT chart timeline visualization. You can decide to group the activities based on their planning level, you can select to see only the ones that start in a limited amount of weeks, see Dependencies, Baselines, add Descriptions and more.

To add or change filters:

[5] Click on the Filter Menu button.

[6] A dropdown menu will open with all the available filters. The selected filters are marked with their icon in blue and blue underline.

[7] To add a new filter click on one or multiple filters.

[8] To apply the changes click the Apply button.

The active filters are visible in the Gantt chart navigation bar at the right of the filter button. [9]

In the case of “Group by Component (PBS)”, the filter shortcut will appear in the Gantt chart navigation bar, even if is not activated.

Remove filters

[1] Unselect the content filters by clicking on their checkbox in the filter column. For the Gantt chart filters, click on the icon in the navigation bar or in the Gantt chart Filters dropdown menu.

[2] Click Apply to see the changes in the GANTT chart.

Reset Filters

[3] Open the Filter Menu and click the Reset button.

[4] It will appear a pop-up asking which type of filters you want to reset to default status.

[5] If you select Yes, then all the filters will be reset to the default ones

  1. Your department
  2. Group the tasks by component
  3. Reschedule

[6] If you click No, it will only reset the filters from the Filter Menu. This means that your filters from the left column will be maintained and the top filters will change to:

  1. Group the tasks by component
  2. Reschedule

[7] In both cases, the only filters that remain in the top filter menu by default, are “Group by component” and “Reschedule.”
